CORTLAND, N.Y.—The 11th-ranked William Smith soccer team knocked off Cortland 1-0 in a non-conference contest at T. Fred Halloway Field this evening. With their fourth-straight win, the Herons are now 10-3-3 overall.

Aliceann Wilber and the Heron soccer program recorded their 650th win. Wilber, now in her 45th season and the only soccer coach William Smith has ever had, holds a record of 650-146-73. She is the first Division III women's soccer coach to reach 650 wins and the first woman in all of NCAA soccer.

Kirsten Nelson played all 90 minutes in goal and made four saves. She recorded her seventh shutout of the season.
Kristen Spendal played all 90 minutes in goal for Cortland (10-3-4). She made four saves.

- William Smith finished the game with a 10-8 advantage in shots, including a 5-4 margin in shots on goal.

MATCH MOMENTS
- Cam Stone had the first scoring opportunity less than a minute into the game. Her shot was turned aside by Nelson.
- In the sixth minute, Marjorie Plants just missed the left goal post with a header opportunity.
- Piper Klammer had the next two shots of the game. In the 14th minute, Nelson punched her shot over the crossbar two minutes later fired a shot wide left.
- Moira van der Putt scored the game's lone goal in the 19th minute. She intercepted a clearing attempt and ripped a shot just under the crossbar. It was her second goal of the season. The goal was set up by a booming punt from Nelson.
- Nelson made her best save of the night in the 26th minute. Off a free kick, Cam Stone headed a shot towards the upper right corner of the cage. Nelson jumped up and grabbed the ball before it crossed the goal line.
- In the 43rd minute, Nelson made a diving stop on a shot from Tyla Vuotto.
- Sophomore Kaleigh Darby nearly doubled William Smith's lead in the 48th minute. She fired a shot off of the left goalpost.
- The Red Dragons were issued a red card in the 57th minute and played the final 33 minutes a player down.
- In the 59th minute senior Ava Ruppersberger nearly scored but Spendal punched her shot over the crossbar at the last second.

- William Smith is now 19-5-3 against Cortland.
