Statesmen fall to Saxons 189-70

ALFRED, N.Y – The Hobart swimming and diving team was back on the road on Friday as it faced Alfred University for a nonconference meet. The Saxons defeated the Statesmen 189-70. Hobart is now 1-2, while Alfred moves to 3-1.

First-year George Weir and first-year Gerard Humiston led the Statesmen with two second place finishes each. Weir came second in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly with times of 23.71 and 59.09. Humiston finished second in the 100-yard freestyle and the 200-yard IM, stopping the clock at 53.32 and 2:17.30, respectively.

First-years Bailey Jacobs, Payton Owens and junior Linden Utz also secured second place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke, 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard breaststroke, with times of 2:25.38, 5:55.97, and 3:19.30, respectively.

Sophomore Rupert Ramsay came in second from the 3-meter diving board after posting a score of 204.45.

UP NEXT:

Hobart will be back in action Saturday, Nov. 9, when they welcome Oswego State to Bristol Pool. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
