ALFRED, N.Y. –The William Smith swimming and diving team was back in action Friday against Alfred University in McLane Natatorium, defeating the Saxons 169-121. With the win, the Herons move to 3-0 on the season while Alfred fell to 1-3.
Sophomore Mackenzie Morus, first-year Kaleigh Boynton and first-year Fiona Garfield led William Smith with two first place finishes each. Morus came first in the 1000-yard freestyle and in the 200-yard IM with times of 11:43.67 and 2:23.50, respectively. Boynton finished first in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke stopping the clock at 1:13.26 and 2:43.27.
From the diving board, Garfield secured first place finishes in the 1-meter and 3-meter events with scores of 184.20 and 169.65, respectively.
Junior Hali Seidberg earned a first-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:28.18. Seidberg was also part of the relay team with junior Lea Doufekias Emanuel, senior Maggie Schlehlein, and junior Sonya Wilkerson that finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay, clocking in at 1:52.21.

The Herons will be back in action Saturday, Nov. 9, when they welcome Oswego State to Bristol Pool. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
