Herons set for nonconference matchup with Brockport Saturday

The William Smith basketball team is back in action at home this weekend as it hosts SUNY Brockport in a nonconference game Saturday, Nov. 23. Tipoff between the Herons and the Golden Eagles is set for 12:30 p.m. in Bristol Gymnasium.

Fans who can't make it to Geneva can follow the game with HWS All-Access Video and Live Stats. The game will also be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7 in Geneva).

ABOUT THE HERONS

  • William Smith is 0-2 to start the season and is looking to bounce back after a 67-51 loss to SUNY Geneseo on Tuesday.
  • Sophomore Amelia McCully leads the Liberty League in scoring and averages 21.5 points per game. She is followed by senior Molly Walsh with 9.5 ppg
  • First-year Jojo Sulmasy leads the team in rebounds, averaging 5.0 per game. Walsh is second on the team in rebounds, averaging 4.5 per game.
  • Sophomore Gianna Lobozzo leads William Smith in steals, averaging 2.0 per game, while Walsh and first-year Anne Keneally average 1.5 each. 
  • McCulley averages 2.5 blocks per game which also leads the conference.

ABOUT THE GOLDEN EAGLES

  • Brockport is 3-1 to start the season and is coming off a 78-71 win over Hamilton on Tuesday.
  • Stephanie Jean-Baptiste leads the Golden Eagles in points, averaging 17.0 per game. She is followed by Kaileigh Hunt who averages 12.3 ppg.
  • Cam Tooley leads the team in rebounds, averaging 7.3, while Hunt averages 5.8 rebounds per game.
  • Jean-Baptiste also leads the team in steals, averaging 3.8 per game, and is closely followed by Peyton Maneri with 3.3 per game. 

SERIES SNAPSHOT

  • This will be the 34th matchup between William Smith and Brockport. The Herons lead the series 18-15 including a 7-3 record against the Golden Eagles in Geneva.
  • Last time they met, Brockport defeated the Herons 80-58 on Nov. 18, 2023. McCulley recorded 12 points, four blocks, two rebounds and one steal in the loss.
