The Hobart and William Smith squash teams will kick off their 2024-25 seasons in Granville, Ohio, this weekend, Nov. 9-10. The Statesmen and Herons will take on Denison on Friday and Dickinson on Saturday.

This weekend also begins the
Whitney Stewart era at HWS. Stewart was named the head coach for Hobart and William Smith in March of 2024. A highly accomplished player and coach, she comes to Geneva after spending six year as the boys' varsity head coach at Hopkins School.

Hobart returns six players from last year's squad that was 11-9 overall. The Statesmen finished third in the Liberty League. Hobart won its final four matches of the season as it captured the Summers Cup at the College Squash Association Team Championships. Junior
Javier De La Vega is the Statesmen's top returner. He had 10 wins last year. Senior
Joseph Raskin Lantos logged eight wins in 2023-24.

William Smith was 12-4 overall last season. The Herons defeated St. Lawrence 7-2 in Canton, New York, to claim the Liberty League title. Junior
Tamia Rollaing was 3-0 and sophomore
Brianna Lucero had four wins last year. William Smith will be a young squad, welcoming nine new faces to the roster.

Following this weekend's matches in Ohio, HWS will play its next five matches in Geneva. The home opener will be against Hamilton on Nov. 17. New this year, the CSA Individual Championships will be held in the middle of the season, Jan. 24-28 in New York City. The Liberty League Tournament will once again be held in Canton, Feb. 7-9 and the CSA Team Championships will be in Philadelphia, Feb. 28-March 2.
