Lakers swim by Statesmen in nonconference meet

GENEVA, N.Y. – The Hobart swimming & diving team hosted SUNY Oswego this afternoon in Bristol Pool and fell in the nonconference matchup 174-108. The Statesmen fall to 1-3 on the season, while the Lakers move to 1-2.

Sophomore Christopher Woody led the team with three first place finishes. Woody came first in the 50-yard back and in the 100-yard breast with times of 29.16 and 1:04.75, respectively. He was also part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team with first-year's Bailey Jacobs, Marshall Hemmerich, and George Weir, stopping the clock at 1:46.96 to claim first place. 

Hemmerich and Weir were also part of the winning 200-yard free relay team that claimed first place. They joined junior Randall Dominguez and first-year Gerard Humiston and touched the wall at 1:35.56 to claim first place. 

From the diving board, junior Daniel Barrientos secured two individual first-place finishes. In the 1-meter event he scored a 244.75 to claim first place and followed that up with a score of 236.50 from 3 meter board to win again. 

UP NEXT

The Statesmen will be back in action Saturday, Nov. 16, when they welcome St. Lawrence University to Bristol Pool for their first Liberty League matchup of the season. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
