Hobart Basketball to host Garnet Chargers, Brewers in return to league play

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart basketball team will return to conference play this weekend, welcoming Union and Vassar to Bristol Gym. The Statesmen and Garnet Chargers will tip off at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 with the Brewers visiting campus the following afternoon at 4 p.m.
 
Both games will be webcast on HWS All-Access with Live Stats available on HWSAthletics.com.

FOR THE RECORD
  • Hobart is 4-2 to start the season. The Statesmen have won three in a row, but are looking for their first Liberty League win after dropping a 72-55 decision at RPI on Nov. 19.
  • Union is 3-2 following a 93-71 loss to Colby on Dec. 1. Friday will be the Garnet Chargers' league opener.

  • Union has five players averaging double digits in the scoring column with Liberty League leader Jack Plesser producing 22.0 ppg.

  • The Brewers' early season fortunes seem to align with their efforts on the glass. Their most lopsided win (vs. Mount St. Mary) saw them outrebound the Knights by 32. Their two losses are marked by their biggest rebounding deficits (-9 & -6).
  • Shea Fitzgerald leads Vassar in scoring, producing 19.0 ppg to go with a team best 3.8 apg.
