CANTON, N.Y.—The 21st-ranked Hobart squash team defeated Denison 6-3 this morning in the third-place match at the 2024 Liberty League Men's Squash Championships. With the win, the Statesmen improved to 8-9 on the season.
Hobart went 2-1 on the year picking up wins over Bard and Denison. This is the third straight year that the Statesmen placed third in the conference championship.
MATCH SUMMARY
- Hobart had three 3-0 sweeps against the Big Red.
- First-year Dhirren Rajarathinam improved to 15-1 on the year with his victory in the No. 2 spot. He rolled to an 11-3, 13-11, 11-5 win over Tarun Mammen in the No. 2 spot. Rajarthinam has won 11 straight matches and is 9-0 at No. 2.
- Senior Omar Kiwan swept Charlie Fenwick IV, 11-8, 11-6, 11-3 in the No. 3 spot. It was Kiwan's 11th win of the season. He is 7-1 in the third spot of the lineup.
- At. No. 4, Junior Joseph Raskin Lantos topped Lucas Piller, 11-3, 11-5, 11-8. Raskin Lantos is now 5-5 on the year.
- Angel Ripolles Medina defeated Jackson Bragman, 11-8, 4-11, 11-5, 13-11, in the seventh spot. It was his fifth win of the season.
- In the closest match of the day, Javier De La Vega edged Ross Falcon, 11-5, 11-2, 7-11, 9-11, 11-5.
- John Solano won his match by default.
- Denison won all three of their points 3-1.
