GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season, riding a six-goal flurry to start the contest to a 13-9 victory over Canisius in the Poole Family Sports Dome this evening. Attackman
Anthony Dattellas led the Statesmen with six points on two goals and a career-high four assists.

Nolan Firth posted a game-high three caused turnovers. Goalies

Jack Faiola each played a half in net, combining for seven saves.
Canisius got a four-point game from attackman Patrick Mitchell. Attckman Hunter Parucki notched a goal and an assist. Mikey Howe tallied a pair of goals. Goalie Tommy Kunz made 13 saves.
KEY STATS
- Hobart dominated at the faceoff X, winning 20-of-24. Adam Shea was 11-of-13 and Mike Valent went 9-of-11.
- The Statesmen also had a significant advantage in ground balls (35-25) thanks in large part to the duo. Valent scooped up a game-high seven while Shea added six.
- Hobart was 2-for-2 with the extra man, while killing off all three of Canisius' extra-man opportunities.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Behind Dattellas' hot start, Hobart owned a 5-0 lead after 15 minutes. He fed Delano for an extra-man goal to start the scoring then set the table for back-to-back goals by Rosa. Less than a minute after Rosa's second goal, Dattellas ripped his first goal off an assist by attackman Troy Barthelme.
- Peterkin scored in the final minute of the first quarter and Chad Bach made it 6-0 Hobart with a goal just 18 seconds into the second quarter.
- Mitchell scored twice in succession to get the Golden Griffins on the board, but Dattellas, Greene and Delano combined for a three-goal run for the home team to make it a 9-2 game.
- Canisius cut its deficit to five by halftime with Jackson Webster scoring at the buzzer to make it 9-4.
- The Golden Griffins scored all three goals of the third quarter to keep things interesting, but the Statesmen countered with the first three goals of the fourth quarter to build a comfortable 12-7 lead with under six minutes left.

- Both teams left the Poole Dome with 1-2 records.
RIVALRY RENEWED
- Hobart will have a week to prepare for its oldest rival, Cornell. The 141st meeting between the two squads is set for 5 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27 in Ithaca. The Big Red defeated Lehigh in its season opener and will visit Denver on Saturday before facing the Statesmen.
