Baseball pounds out 17 hits, but falls to Warriors 11-10

WILKES-BARRE, Pa.—The Hobart baseball team pounded out 17 hits, rallied from a nine-run deficit to take the lead in the top of the seventh inning only to see Lycoming answer with two runs in the bottom of the seventh. The Warriors held on for an 11-10 non-conference victory.
 
Third baseman Drew Bolduc led the hit parade for the Statesmen, going 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Nate Johnson, Ty Gallagher, Will Jones, Connor Schmiedlin and Sean Garvin had two hits apiece.
 
Lycoming's Nick Reeder went 1-for-4 with three RBIs and Danny DeLucas was 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored. Jake Schilling threw a six-out save.
 
BIG HOLE
  • Lycoming pushed across five runs in the bottom of the first. Eric MacCluen and Nick Hoheb delivered the big blows. MacCluen had a bases loaded single that scored two and Hoheb tripled with two on.
  • The Warriors scored four more in the bottom of the third. Reeder did the big damage in this inning with a bases loaded double to center that cleared the bases.
 
RALLY TIME
  • Hobart tied the game with a nine-run sixth.
  • The Statesmen quickly loaded the bases and started to pick away at the lead with five consecutive hits, including a two RBI double by Bolduc.
  • Jones' two-run triple capped the comeback.
  • In the top of the seventh, Hobart took the lead when Lycoming uncorked a wild pitch with the bases load, allowing Gavin Brignall to scramble home.
 
GAME WINNER
  • In the bottom of the seventh, Lycoming loaded the bases with a single, hit-by-pitch and an error. Ryan Tan delivered a bases loaded single to bring home the tying and go-ahead runs.
  • Schilling nailed down the win, pitching a scoreless eighth and ninth.
 
LET'S PLAY TWO
  • Hobart and Lycoming will play a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday in Wilkes-Barre.
