SCHENECTADY, N.Y.– The No. 31 ranked Hobart tennis team defeated Union 8-1 this afternoon in a Liberty League matchup at the Sportime Tennis Club. With the win, the Statesmen (10-3, 4-0) extended their win streak 10 straight and remain undefeated in conference play. The Garnet Chargers fall to 3-8 overall with a 1-2 mark in the Liberty League.
Hobart swept doubles play, winning all three matches against Union. Senior
Sean Pesin and sophomore
Nick Fischer defeated Ben Jacobs and Dimitris Binopoulos 8-5 in the No. 1 spot to move to 9-4 on the season.
Juniors
Troy Steiner and
Hyat Oyer won their fourth straight doubles match as they defeated Seth Prusko and Daniel Saxe 8-3 in the No. 2 spot. The duo is now 8-4 on the season. Senior
Winter Fagerberg and junior Rahul Vallbhajosula moved to 7-1 on the season with an 8-3 win over Austin Gregory and Ian Schunk in the No. 3 spot.
The Statesmen continued to roll in singles action, winning five of six matches against the Garnet Chargers. Fischer got back in the win column after defeating Binopoulos 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 in the No. 2 spot to move to 7-5 on the season. First-year
Achilleas Kousaridis moved to 10-2 in his rookie season after defeating Saxe in the 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) No. 3 spot.
Oyer defeated Khai Ton 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (15-13) in the No. 4 spot to move to 9-4 on the season, while Fagerberg extended his win streak to nine straight with a dominating 6-1, 6-1 win over Prusko in the No. 5 spot. He is now 9-3 in dual matches this season.
Junior
Nick Grosso extended his win streak to seven straight and clinched the win for Hobart. He defeated Gregory 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 4 spot to move to 10-3 in dual matches this season.

Hobart will be back in action on Saturday, April 13, when it welcomes NYU and Bard to Geneva for back-to-back matches. The nonconference matchup with the Violets is set for 10 a.m., and will be followed by a conference matchup with the Raptors at 5 p.m.
