Hobart takes on #22 Rochester in home opener

The Hobart soccer team will make its Cozzens Field debut on Saturday, Sept. 14, when it welcomes 22nd-ranked Rochester to Geneva for a non-conference contest. After starting the season with four straight road games, the Statesmen will play four of its next five matches in the friendly confines of Cozzens Field.
 
Hobart is 0-2-2 to start the year and is looking to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Nazareth on Wednesday.
 
The Yellowjackets are 2-1-1 overall. Rochester has its last two, including a 3-0 victory over Rochester Institute of Technology on Tuesday night.
 
Fans who can't make the trip to Geneva can follow all the action with HWS All-Access Video and Live Stats. The game will be broadcast on WHWS-FM (105.7).
 
ABOUT THE STATESMEN
  • First-year Will Slayton leads Hobart with one goal. He scored the game-tying goal in Sunday's 1-1 tie with then No. 25 Oneonta.
  • Junior Thomas Chyzowych has played every minute in goal. He has a 0.75 GAA and a .727 save percentage.
  • Hobart is averaging 7.67 corner kicks per game, 30th in the nation.

  • Kamal Ibrahim (2g, 1a) and Johnny Makula (2g, 1a) share the team lead with five points each.
  • Santino Lupica-Tondo has played every minute in goal. He has a 0.50 GAA and a .857 save percentage. He is second in the nation with three shutouts.
  • Rochester has recorded three straight shutouts and is 14th in the nation in shutout percentage (.750). The Yellowjackets have not allowed a goal in the last 319:11 minutes.

  • Saturday's game will be the 71st meeting between Hobart and Rochester.
