The Hobart and William Smith sailing team was back on the water this weekend, Sept. 14-15, competing in the Susan Rogers Memorial Regatta and Boehringer Invitational in Ithaca, New York. The Herons were also in Annapolis, Maryland, competing in Faye Bennet Trophy.

The weekend was highlighted by William Smith's second place finish in the Susan Rogers Women's Invite. In addition, HWS finished fourth of six teams in the Boehringer Invitational. In Maryland at the Faye Bennet Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Aassociation Women's Singlehanded Championship, William Smith was led by
Elizabeth Starck's 12th place finish.

In Ithaca, races were slow to start on Saturday due to wind delays, however, despite the delays, both fleets were able to complete eight races.

Susan Rogers
- With only six teams, all three Divisions were combined into an 18-team division.
- The C Division team of senior Brook Wood and junior Juliana Victor led the way for the Herons, with top-ten finishes in all but one race. The pair led the Herons with 44 points, finishing fourth.
- First years Deana Fedulova and Margaret Torrey brought in top-ten finishes in all but one race. They were ninth overall finishing with 65 points.
- First-years Sabrina Starck and Olivia Wilkins finished with 75 points, notching six top-ten finishes. They placed 10th.
- HWS was second with 184 points.

Jack Boehringer Invitational
- Like the Susan Rogers, the Jack Boehringer combined all three divisions into an 18-team division.
- HWS finished fourth, with 229 points.
- First-year James Kopack, junior Cooper Delbridge, and first-year Simon Hammarlund competed as skippers in their races while sophomore Ella Donaldson, first-year Lucy Lack, and sophomore Reilly Roedel served as crew.
- Kopack and Donaldson led the way, with top-ten finishes in all but one race. They were fourth with 39 points.
- Delbridge and Lack culminated with 78 points and six top-ten finishes, while Hammarlund and Roedel finished with a total 112 points.

Faye Bennet Trophy
- In Annapolis, eight races were completed on Saturday in a 4-10 knot breeze. Sunday saw a 6-12 knot breeze that allowed the final six races to be completed.
- Starck led the Herons, finishing 12th overall with 147 points. She had seven top 10 finishes.
- Bennett O'Keefe placed 14th with 173 total points.
- Cornell's Gilda Dondona won the regatta and earned MAISA's automatic berth into the ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship.

UP NEXT
HWS sailing is back in action next weekend, Sept. 21-22, competing in two regattas. The team will be heading back to Ithaca to compete in the MAISA Top Nine Regatta, and New York City to race in Fordham's Jesuit Invitational.
