Statesmen welcome Thoroughbreds for Liberty League match

The Hobart soccer team will be back in action this Saturday, Sept. 28, when it welcomes Skidmore for a Liberty League contest. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Cozzens Field.
 
The Statesmen are 1-4-2 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play after defeating Ithaca College 4-1 on Tuesday. Junior Quinn Phillips finished the game with two goals and an assist.
 
The Thoroughbreds are 1-1-4. Saturday's match will be the Liberty League opener for Skidmore. The Thoroughbreds are unbeaten in their last three games and are coming off back-to-back draws last week.

ABOUT THE STATESMEN
  • Hobart enters the first full weekend of league play tied atop the conference standings with three points.
  • Sophomore La Zai Outerbridge and Phillips share the team lead with five points on two goals and two assists.
  • Junior Thomas Chyzowych has played every minute in goal for the Statesmen. He has a 1.00 GAA and a .731 save percentage.
  • The Statesmen enter the weekend ranked fourth in the nation in corner kicks per game (8.57).
 
ABOUT THE THOROUGHBREDS
  • Colin Goodhines leads Skidmore with seven points on three goals and one assist.
  • Dillon Nelson has a team-best two assists.
  • Will Devall has played every minute in goal for the Thoroughbreds. He has a 0.83 GAA and a .828 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Sunday will be the 34th meeting between the Statesmen and the Thoroughbreds. 
  • Hobart leads the all-time series 12-9-12, including a mark of 6-2-8 in Geneva.
  • Last season, the Statesmen defeated the Thoroughbreds 2-1 in Saratoga Springs. Steven Pickering and Chris Friedlander '24 scored for Hobart. Guillermo Castañeda Chang '24 made two saves.
