The Hobart and William Smith swimming and diving teams will welcome SUNY Brockport to Geneva this Saturday, Jan. 11. The Statesmen and Herons are scheduled to take on the Golden Eagles at 1 p.m. in Bristol Pool.
HWS will honor three seniors prior to Saturday's meet. Maggie Schlehlein, Tori Smith, and Tessa Yohan will be recognized for their dedicated careers as Herons.
ABOUT THE STATESMEN
Hobart enters this weekend with an overall record of 2-3 with its last competition ending in a fifth-place finish at the Don Richards Invitation back in December. At the invitational hosted by RIT, junior Daniel Barrientos finished third in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events while the 200 and 400-yard medley relay teams both finished fifth. The 400-medley relay of first-years Bailey Jacobs and George Weir, sophomore Christopher Woody and junior Randall Dominguez broke the school record with a time of 3:55.15.
Hobart will take on a 2-5 Brockport team that is coming off a 131-88 win against Nazareth to open the new year. This will be the second meeting between Hobart and Brockport. The Statesmen will hope to capture their first victory against the Golden Eagles after falling 187-49 last season.Â
ABOUT THE HERONS
William Smith is currently 4-1 on the season and is coming off a fourth-place finish in the Don Richards Invitational. Sophomore Mackenzie Morus led the Herons with a second-place finish in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:54.69. The 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams also both captured fifth place finishes for William Smith.Â
This is also the second meeting between the Herons and the Golden Eagles. Last season, Brockport defeated William Smith 188-106 in Brockport on Jan. 13, 2024. Brockport's women's team is currently 4-3 after falling to Nazareth 139-103 on Jan. 4.
