CLINTON, N.Y.— Sophomore Giana Lobozzo led the William Smith basketball team with a career-high 20 points as the Herons fell 64-48 to Hamilton College in a nonconference showdown this evening in Margaret Bundy Scott Field House.
Along with her game-high 20 points, Giana Lobozzo added six rebounds, four steals, two blocks and two assists for the Herons. She was followed by classmate Amelia McCulley who chipped in six points and three rebounds in the loss. Sophomore Charlotte Miller added five late points for William Smith and added a block in the final minutes. Ava Lobozzo contributed solid minutes and tallied five rebounds, four points and one blocked shot in the setback.
The Continentals were led by a double-double from Taylor Lambo who dropped 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. She added one assist and one block in the win for Hamilton. Althea Hill chipped in 11 points for the Continentals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- William Smith and Hamilton traded the momentum in the opening quarter as there were four tie scores and four lead changes within the opening 10 minutes. Giana Lobozzo caught the hot hand early and dropped seven points to keep the Herons within two points heading into the second quarter.
- The Continentals found their rhythm in the second quarter and went on a 9-0 scoring run to extend their lead. The Herons found three pointers from junior Carly Scott and sophomore Miranda Martin but an 18-8 second quarter handed Hamilton a 12-point lead heading into halftime.
- William Smith fought back in the third but was matched by an efficient Hamilton side that shot 61.5% from the floor in the quarter to maintain their lead. An Annabelle Semeter pullup jumper as time expired gave the Continentals an 18-point lead heading into the final quarter.
- The Herons used a late push to try and make a run at the Continentals and found five points from sophomore Charlotte Miller down the stretch. First-year Anne Kenneally made her presence known in the paint as she grabbed six rebounds in the final quarter, including four offensive rebounds. Despite outscoring Hamilton 13-11 in the final 10 minutes, the Continentals closed out the nonconference matchup with a 64-48 win over the Herons to move to 10-2 on the season.
