GENEVA, N.Y.—Junior
Gabriel Bergeron scored a career-high 15 points off the bench to lead Hobart to a 64-50 Liberty League win over Rensselaer this afternoon.
Bergeron was 5-of-7 shooting, all from beyond the arc. It's the most 3-pointers made by a Statesman since
Alex Moesch made five treys against St. Scholastica on Dec. 29, 2023. Bergeron was joined in double digits by seniors
Aidan Rodgers,
Pat Healy and
Hunter Meshanic, who contributed 11 points, 11 points, and 10 points, respectively. Healy handed out a game-high six assists against just a single turnover. Rodgers notched five helpers without committing a turnover.
Andrew Deppe was the only Engineer in double figures, posting a game-high 16 points, including a 7-for-7 effort at the free throw line.

- Hobart won its third straight to improve to 9-3 overall. The Statesmen evened their Liberty League record at 2-2.
- RPI lost for the second time in as many games, falling to 9-2 overall. The Engineers suffered their first league loss, slipping to 3-1.

- Hobart flipped the script on defensive-minded RPI. The Engineers came into the game second in the league in scoring defense, allowing just 54.5 ppg.
- Today, the Statesmen deployed a stifling defense, limiting the visitors to 28.6% shooting, their second worst effort of the season.
- Half of Hobart's 22 field goals made came from beyond the 3-point arc. The Statesmen shot 45.8% from deep and 42.3% overall.
- RPI came into the game second in the league in rebounding margin, but the Statesmen enjoyed a 39-37 advantage on the glass. Hobart senior Carter Meshanic grabbed a game-high nine boards, while Healy added eight.
TURNING POINT
- RPI used a 15-5 run midway through the first half to take a 25-21 lead with just under six minutes remaining in the half.
- Hobart countered with a 16-2 run to end the half, including 14 straight points.
- Bergeron keyed the surge with a trio of triples.
- Healy hit a turnaround jumper at the buzzer to send the Statesmen into the break with a 37-27 lead.
- Eight of Hobart's 14 first half field goals were 3-pointers.
COUP DE GRACE
- The Statesmen maintained a double digit lead throughout the second half.
- Hobart put the game away with 15-4 run that ballooned the home team's lead to 60-37 with under five minutes remaining.
