#11 Hobart travels to Union Saturday

The 11th-ranked Hobart soccer team will be back in action this Saturday, Oct. 25, when it travels to Schenectady, New York, to take on Union. Kickoff in the capital district is set for 2 p.m. on College Park Field.
 
Hobart is 10-0-3 overall with a 5-0-2 mark in the Liberty League. The Statesmen are coming off a 1-1 tie against Vassar on Saturday, where sophomore Brady Leitner scored in the 73rd minute of play.  
 
Union enters the weekend with a 6-5-4 overall record and a 3-1-3 mark in the Liberty League after a 1-0 win over Bard on Wednesday.

ABOUT THE STATESMEN
  • Leitner leads the offense with eight goals and 17 points this season. He is 18th in the nation in game-winning goals (4).
  • Fellow sophomore Griffin Coutts follows closely behind with 12 points on five goals and two assists.
  • Senior midfielder Quinn Phillips has 10 points on four goals and two assists.
  • Senior Tommy Chyzowych has played the majority of the minutes in goal. He is 8-0-2 with a 0.70 GAA and a .759 save percentage
  • Hobart is 10th in the nation in winning percentage (.885), 20th in GAA (0.62), and 27th in corner kicks per game (6.69).
 
ABOUT THE GARNET CHARGERS
  • Lucas Montalto has a team-high six points on three goals.
  • Gavin Blake and Kofi Sarfoh each have two goals this season.
  • Three additional players have four points this season on one goal and two assists.
  • Jacob Perry has played the majority of the minutes in goal. He has a GAA of 1.17, an .807 save percentage and four shutouts.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Saturday will be the 48th meeting between Hobart and Union.
  • The Statesmen are 24-17-6 all-time against the Garnet Chargers, but Union has a 12-8-2 edge in Schenectady.
  • Hobart is unbeaten in its last 10 against the Garnet Chargers, including last year's 2-0 victory in Geneva. Will Slayton and La Zai Outerbridge scored for the Statesmen.
 
PLAYOFF PUSH
  • With last Saturday's tie, Hobart is first in the Liberty League standings with 17 points. The Statesmen have clinched a spot in the six-team tournament. Hobart can lock up a top-three spot with a win or tie on Saturday.
  • Wednesday's win moved Union into third place in the league standings with 12 points. It is four points behind second-place Skidmore. The Garnet Chargers can secure their place in the league tournament with a win or a tie.
