Herons welcome Clarkson on Homecoming Weekend

The William Smith soccer team will be back in action this Saturday, Oct. 4, when it welcomes Clarkson to Cozzens Field. The third and final game of the Herons' homestand is set to begin at 2 p.m.
 
Saturday's game is one of many events on the 2025 HWS Homecoming and Family Weekend Schedule. From 1:30 p.m. until the end of halftime, there will be a Chili Pop-up Tailgate at Cozzens Field offering chili-to-go, walking tacos, cookies and drinks, (debit and credit cards only).
 
The Herons enter this weekend with an overall record of 6-2-2, including a conference record of 2-1-0. William Smith has won two straight after beating Ithaca 1-0 on Wednesday. Senior Ruth Hotaling scored her Liberty League-leading seventh goal of the season on the Herons' only shot of the first half. Junior Antonia Goerke matched her career-high with eight saves in the shutout.
 
The Golden Knights are 2-4-3 overall with a 0-2-1 mark in Liberty League play after a 1-1 draw with Union last Saturday.

ABOUT THE HERONS
  • In addition to leading the team in goals, Hotaling has a Liberty League-leading 15 points this season. She is 20th in the nation with three game-winning goals.
  • Fellow seniors Julia Accioly (4g, 2a) and Julia Bragg (5g) are right behind her with 10 points each.
  • Sophomore Grace Metzler leads the team with three assists.
  • Goerke has played the majority of minutes in goal this season. She is 6-2-2 with a 0.73 GAA, an .857 save percentage. Goerke is sixth in the nation with six shutouts this season.
 
ABOUT THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
  • Lillian Gillett leads the team with four goals and eight points.
  • Gabrielle Cyganik is right behind her with three goals and six points.
  • Julia Tyler leads the team with three assists.
  • Isabell Woods has played the majority of minutes in goal. She is 1-3-3 with a 1.57 GAA, a .711 save percentage and one shutout.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • This will be the 38th meeting between William Smith and Clarkson.
  • The Herons have a 37-0-0 record against the Golden Knights, including an 18-0-0 mark in Geneva.
  • William Smith won last year 3-0 in Potsdam. Hotaling had two assists in the win.
