#21 Hobart hosts RPI in regular season finale

The 21st-ranked Hobart soccer team will close out the regular season this Saturday, Nov. 1, when it takes on the RPI. Kickoff for the Liberty League contest is set for 2 p.m. on Cozzens Field.
 
The Statesmen have an overall record of 10-0-5 after their third straight tie, a scoreless draw, against Buffalo State on Tuesday. Senior Tommy Chyzowych had a standout game making a season high five saves, earning his sixth shutout of 2025.
 
The Engineers enter the weekend with a 4-7-5 overall record and are looking to snap a two-game losing streak. On Wednesday, they were tripped up by Vassar 3-1.
 
Free hot chocolate and rally towels will be given away at the game courtesy of Hobart and William Smith Athletics. Hot chocolate will be served from 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

ABOUT THE STATESMEN
  • Hobart is 12th in the nation in GAA (0.53), 17th in winning percentage (.833) and 19th in shutouts percentage (.533).
  • Sophomore Brady Leitner leads the team with 17 points on eight goals and one assist. He is 22nd in the nation with four game-winning goals.
  • Fellow sophomore Griffin Coutts follows with 12 points on five goals and two assists.
  • Senior Quinn Phillips adds 10 points on four goals and two assists.
  • Chyzowych is 8-0-4 with 0.58 GAA, a .794 save percentage and six shutouts. He is 25th in the nation in GAA.
 
ABOUT THE ENGINEERS
  • Landon Bradley and Thomas Corcoran share the team lead with nine points each on four goals and one assist.
  • Joshua Jarden also has nine points on two goals and a team-high five assists.
  • Noah Churchill plays the majority of minutes in goal. He is 2-3-5 overall with a 1.13 GAA and a .618 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Saturday's game will be the 63rd meeting between the Statesmen and the Engineers.
  • RPI has the edge in the overall series 29-27-6, including a 14-12-3 lead in Geneva.
  • Last year, Hobart defeated the Engineers 1-0. Leitner scored for the Statesmen.
 
PLAYOFF PUSH
  • Hobart is currently in first place in the league with a record of 5-0-3 with 18 points.
  • The Statesmen can still finish anywhere from first to third.
  • A win this Saturday would secure the No. 1 for the Statesmen.
  • RPI is in eighth place in the Liberty League with six points and has been eliminated from tournament contention.
