GENEVA, N.Y.—The top-ranked Hobart hockey team erupted for five goals in the second period as it knocked off Elmira 6-0 in a non-conference contest at The Cooler this evening. With the win, Hobart is now 2-0-0 to start the season.
Six different players scored in the victory for the Statesmen. Senior
Tanner Daniels (1g, 1a) and sophomore
Adam Mendelson (1g, 1a) and sophomore
Tamas Toth (1g, 1a) led the way for Hobart with two points each.
Mavrick Goyer played all 60 minutes in goal and made 19 stops as he earned his 16th career shutout. He also had an assist in the game.
Cameron Manley went the distance in goal for the Soaring Eagles (0-2-0). He made 37 saves.

- Today's win was Hobart's eighth straight victory.
- The victory extends Hobart's home winning streak to an NCAA Division III record 54 games.

GAME SUMMARY
- Hobart controlled the opening 20 minutes, finishing the first period with a 15-4 advantage in shots on goal.
- In addition to their 15 shots on goal, sophomore Arvega Hovsepyan hit the crossbar twice.
- Hobart opened the scoring at the 8:49 mark of the second period when Daniels pocketed his first goal of the year. Standing in the low slot, he one-timed a shot past Manley. Hovsepyan and Goyer were awarded assists on the power-play goal.
- Twenty-four seconds later, Easton Ryan pocketed his first goal of the season. He poked home a centering pass from Mendelson for his first goal of the year. Josh Doolan also had an assist on the goal.
- Mendelson scored a goal of his own at the 10:30 mark of the second period. He one-timed a centering pass from Tristan Fasig for his first goal of the season. Connor Elliott also had an assist on the goal.
- Senior Kahlil Fontana put the game out of reach with his goal at the 19:19 mark of the middle frame. After his initial shot was blocked, he slid across the cage and poked home the goal. Bauer Swift and Daniels had assists on the goal.
- Tamas Toth made it a five-goal lead nine seconds later. He broke up a clearing pass from the Elmira goalie and ripped a shot into the vacated cage.
- Adam Ondris rounded out the scoring with just over a minute remaining in regulation. His first collegiate goal was assisted by Laurent Trepanier and Toth.

Hobart will be back in action next week, Nov. 6 and Nov. 8, when it takes on Utica in a rematch of last March's national championship game. The Statesmen will return to Utica on Thursday for a 7 p.m. faceoff. The teams will head to The Cooler on Saturday at 4 p.m.
