GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart swimming and diving team returned to Bristol Pool this afternoon, taking on Alfred University in its home opener. The Statesmen battled throughout the meet but ultimately fell to 0-4 on the season after falling to the Saxons 208-64.
First-year Payton Owens led Hobart with a third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:28.72), and a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:58.96). 
Sophomore Gerard Humiston continued his strong start to the season, finishing third in the 200 freestyle (1:59.39) and fourth in the 200 individual medley (2:16.71). Junior Christopher Woody added key points in the breaststroke events, placing third in the 100 (1:06.62) and second in the 200 (2:31.90).
The Statesmen wrapped up the meet with a fourth-place effort in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:46.91).
UP NEXT:
Hobart will be back in action Saturday, Nov. 1, as it hosts Herkimer County Community College for a non-conference meet. Action is set to begin at 1 p.m. in Bristol Pool.
