GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith swimming and diving team hosted Alfred University this afternoon in its home opener in Bristol Pool. The Herons put together a strong showing, highlighted by several first-place finishes to close out the nonconference meet on top 160-131. With the win, the Herons improve to 2-2 on the season.
Junior
Mackenzie Morus led the way with a win in the 500-yard freestyle (5:47.91) and a second-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:25.37).
First-year
Aurora Donta-Venman also impressed, taking second in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:53.90) and contributing on the Herons' "B" relay team. Sophomore Bogi Olah added a first-place performance in the 200-yard backstroke (2:25.84), while classmate
Amalia Olivieri finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (26.79) and fourth in the 100 free (59.76).
From the diving board, sophomore
Fiona Garfield swept both the one- and three-meter events with scores of 205.65 and 240.45, respectively. Fellow diver
Hannah Walsh earned second on the one-meter board with 203.35 points.

William Smith will be back in action Saturday, Nov. 1, as it welcomes Herkimer County Community College to Geneva. Action is set to begin at 1 p.m. in Bristol Pool.
