CANTON, N.Y.—The William Smith swimming and diving team traveled north this afternoon for a dual meet with St. Lawrence. The Herons turned in several strong performances but ultimately fell to the Saints 156–130.
Junior
Mackenzie Morus led the Herons with first place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (2:10.05) and the 200 butterfly (2:27.69). She was third in the 200 individual medley (2:27.42).
First-year
Lark Sallade picked up key points for the Herons winning the 200 IM (2:26.40), placing second in the 100 butterfly (1:06.40) and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.64). Sophomore
Aurora Donta-Venman added a second-place finish in the 1000 free (11:56.60) and 500 free (5:52.66).
On the boards, sophomore
Fiona Garfield once again swept both diving events, winning the 1-meter with 232.72 points and taking the 3-meter with 267.45 points. Garfield's score on the 3-meter board was a school record, St. Lawrence pool record and was NCAA Regional qualifying score. Senior
Haley Levine added a second-place finish on the 1-meter and 3-meter board with 182.02 points and 182.62 points respectively.
UP NEXT:
William Smith will be back in action Dec. 4-6, when it travels to Ithaca, New York, for the Bomber Invitational. The three-day meet will begin at 9a.m., on Thursday.
