Game Recap: Hobart Basketball | | Ken DeBolt

Statesmen win tournament title behind Nedd’s MVP performance

GENEVA, N.Y.—Sophomore Monty Nedd scored a game-high 21 points to lead Hobart to an 84-70 win over Hamilton in the championship game of the Hobart Basketball Tournament. The Statesmen extended their winning streak to four game and earned their first win over the Continentals since 2011 when both teams competed in the Liberty League.

Nedd connected on 5-of-13 from the floor with a pair of 3-pointers today. His speed gave Hamilton defenders fits and earned Nedd several trips to the free throw line, where went 9-of-12. He also recorded four assists, four rebounds and two steals. Junior Dorian Paki added 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Sophomore Allen Mordi gave Hobart 13 points off the bench, while junior Alex Moesch contributed 10 points. Sophomore Justin Price dished out a team and career-high five assists.

The Continentals also put four players in double figures led by Robert Cain's 14 points. Nate Raub was close behind with 13 points. Mattew Rideout and Will Holmes chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively. David Melson grabbed a game-high nine boards to go with seven points.
