Giana Lobozzo led the William Smith basketball team as it fell to Rochester in a nonconference contest in Louis Alexander Palestra, 83-52.
Giana Lobozzo recorded a game-high 16 points for the Herons, shooting 7-for-16 from the floor. She added a team-high five rebounds, four steals, one block and one assist in the loss. Junior

Ava Lobozzo and
Amelia McCulley added seven points each for William Smith. The duo combined for seven rebounds, four steals, three assists and a block in the loss.
Rochester had four players score double-digit points in the win and were led by Annelise Dexter with 13 points, four rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Grace Corelli, Macy Bacon and Deniz Alparslan tallied 11 points each for the Yellowjackets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rochester came out hot in the opening quarter, dropping 31 points, while holding William Smith to 15 points as a team. The Yellowjackets shot 62% from the floor to jump out to a demanding lead to open the nonconference showdown.
- The Yellowjackets continued their sharp shooting in the second quarter, shooting 7-for-13 from the floor to combine for 18 points as a team. 12 of Rochester's points came off of Heron turnovers after applying a full court press in the second quarter. Despite William Smith forcing five turnovers from Rochester, the Herons struggled to finish and found themselves down 49-25 heading into halftime.
- William Smith responded well to open the second half, shooting 44% from the floor in the third quarter, including 50% from behind the arc to keep the Herons in the game. Both the Herons and the Yellowjackets scored 16 points in the third quarter including a Giana Lobozzo buzzer beating three to keep Rochester's lead the same heading into the final quarter.
- Rochester caught the hot hand from behind the arc in the final 10 minutes, shooting 57% from behind the arc to keep its lead intact. Despite William Smith's late efforts, the Yellowjackets maintained the momentum and closed out the nonconference contest on top, 83-52.
