NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y.—The William Smith bowling team finished fifth at the Niagara University Fall Open over the weekend. Junior
Colleen Jump led the Herons to an 8-2 record, earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
On Day 1 of the tournament, Jump averaged 205.6 pins per game, including three 200 games, helping the Herons to a 4-1 record. Her average was 4th highest out of 67 competitors.
In a 937-897 win over No. 25 Niagara, she rolled a 244, the fifth highest game in William Smith history.
In a 947-841 win over Hilbert, Jump posted a 233, the 10th highest game in program history. Senior
Michaela Morgan also logged a 200-game against the Hawks (201). William Smith's 947 is the program's ninth highest pinfall total in a traditional match.
Jump's third 200 game was a 207 in an 873-823 win over Mercyhurst.
William Smith also defeated Penn State Behrend 847-706 behind a 206 game from Morgan.
The Herons suffered their only opening day loss to No. 14 Mount St. Mary's (Md.) 955-874. Morgan bowled a team-high 219 while senior
Caitlyn Anschutz added a 202.
On Day 2, William Smith went 3-1 in Baker matches, defeating D'Youville 964-773, Penn State Behrend 899-775, and Daemen 881-843. The 964 against the Saints is tied for the eighth highest pinfall total in a Baker match in Heron history. Bryant notched a 988-923 win over William Smith.
Through nine matches, the Herons had a total pin fall of 8,145, placing them fifth out of 10 teams. In the fifth place match against Daemen, William Smith won the best of 7 Baker 4-3.
The Herons begin Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play Nov. 15-16 in Erie, Pennsylvania.
