The fourth-seeded William Smith field hockey team will travel to Poughkeepsie, New York, on Friday, Nov. 7, for a Liberty League semifinal matchup with top-seeded Vassar. Action between the Herons and the Brewers is set for 4 p.m. at Weinberg Turf Field.

ABOUT THE HERONS:
- William Smith enters the semifinal matchup with a 12-8 overall record and is coming off a 1-0 overtime win over fifth-seeded Rochester on Tuesday. Senior Lily Gutch scored the game-winner less than three minutes into overtime to send the Herons to the next round.
- Graduate student Rebecca Mantione leads William Smith with 25 points on nine goals and seven assists. Gutch follows closely behind with 20 points on nine goals and two assists, while sophomore Caroline Kogut adds 15 points on five goals and five assists.
- Defensively, the Herons are led by sophomore Hadley Harbert with three defensive saves. Junior Leah Griffith and Kogut have added two defensive saves each.
- First-year Olivia Terranova has played a majority of minutes in goal for the Herons this season and is 9-6 with a 1.51 GAA and a .741 save percentage.
ABOUT THE BREWERS:
- Vassar enters postseason play with an 11-6 overall record and is coming off a first round bye after earning the No. 1 seed in the Liberty League Tournament.
- Zoe Robinson leads the Brewers with 25 points on 12 goals and an assist. Karina Hoffman adds 18 points (7G, 4A), while Sofia Beseth chips in 16 points (6G, 4A).
- Defensively, Vassar is led by Gianna Hoover with four defensive saves this season. Anna Hazewindus and Sophie Rosenblum have each recorded one defensive save as well.
- Grace Wiley has played a majority of the minutes in goal for the Brewers and is 11-3 with a 1.01 GAA and a .754 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Friday will be the 27th meeting between the Herons and the Brewers. William Smith holds a 20-6 advantage in the series, including a 9-5 edge in Poughkeepsie.
- Earlier this season on Oct. 19, 2025, the Herons defeated the Brewers 2-1 in Poughkeepsie. Gutch scored both goals for William Smith and was later named the NFHCA Division III Offensive Performer of the Week. Terranova made four saves in the win.
