2/13/2025 1:36:00 PM

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart basketball team will host its final two home games of the regular season this weekend, taking on Skidmore at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14 and Bard at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 in Bristol Gym. Both games will be webcast on HWS All-Access and broadcast on WHWS-FM (89.5/90.3).

Prior to Friday's game, the Statesmen make a special presentation to senior Aidan Rodgers in honor of his 1,000th career point. Before the start of Saturday's game, Hobart will honor its four seniors: Rodgers, Carter and Hunter Meshanic and Pat Healy.

FOR THE RECORD
  • Hobart begins the weekend with a 14-7 overall record and an 8-6 mark in Liberty League play.
  • Skidmore heads to Geneva with a 5-16 overall record and a 1-13 league record.
  • Bard, which plays at league leader RPI on Friday, starts the weekend with an 11-10 mark, 6-8 in conference.

PLAYOFF PICTURE
  • The Statesmen are tied for fourth in the Liberty League standings with Union.
  • The top six teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the Liberty League Championship Tournament.
  • Hobart can clinch a top six finish this weekend, but needs help.
  • If the Statesmen win both games and St. Lawrence loses, Hobart is in.
  • The Statesmen can also lock up a playoff berth with a win over Bard and two St. Lawrence losses.
  • A third clinching scenario would be if Hobart beats Skidmore, Bard losses at RPI and St. Lawrence loses twice.

BLOCK PARTY
  • It's Valentine's Day, but fans should be prepared for rejection when Hobart and Skidmore take the court.
  • The Thoroughbreds lead the Liberty League and rank 16th in the nation in blocked shots per game (4.9).
  • Six-foot-10 junior center Joey Skoric paces Skidmore with 36 blocked shots through 16 games.
  • The Statesmen are no strangers to rejection either. Hobart is third in the league at 3.8 per game.
  • Sophomore forward Dorian Paki is the Statesmen leader with 23 blocks in 21 games.
  • Not to be overlooked, Saturday will see the No. 2 team in the Liberty League in blocked shots visit Bristol Gym. Bard is averaging 4.0 blocks per game behind league-leader, senior forward Sean Wilcox (43).

CHAIRMEN OF THE BOARDS
  • Hobart leads the Liberty League in rebounding margin, averaging 5.7 more boards than the opposition. Carter Meshanic leads the team and is sixth in the league at 7.5 rpg.
  • Bard is third in the conference in rebounding margin at +3.5. Graduate student guard Azriel Almodovar and Wilcox contribute 7.6 rpg and 7.5 rpg, respectively.
