NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y.—The William Smith bowling team competed in the Niagara Brunswick Spring Classic over the weekend. After struggling on the opening day of the tournament, the Herons bounced back with a strong Day 2 to finish 3-6 on the weekend.
William Smith went 0-4 in traditional matches on Saturday. The Herons' opener against Division II D'Youville was their closest match of the day. First-year
Brooke Gervais rolled a 188 to pace William Smith against the Saints, but D'Youville prevailed 889-869. In the final match of the day, junior
Caitlyn Anschutz posted the team's best game of the day, a 205, but the host Purple Eagles topped the Herons 976-913.
Anschutz has a 186.0 average on the day to lead the Herons. Gervais was close behind with a 184.8 average.

The Herons rebounded to go 2-2 in Baker matches on Day 2 of the tournament. William Smith scored wins over Hilbert 966-788 and Roberts Wesleyan 934-912.

The Herons closed out the weekend with a best of seven Baker match against D'Youville. William Smith won four games to one without losing a game. The Herons beat the Saints in Games 2, 3 and 5 and tied in Games 1 and 4.
