Daniels, Beaver, Taylor headline All-NEHC Picks

League-high 9 earn All-NEHC recognition

Nine members of the top-ranked Hobart hockey team were honored by the New England Hockey Conference with end of the year awards this afternoon. The NEHC regular season champions were well represented in the major awards with junior forward Tanner Daniels being voted the Player of the Year, junior Damon Beaver winning the Goaltender of the Year Award and Head Coach Mark Taylor chosen the Coach of the Year.
 
Daniels and Beaver were joined on the first team by graduate student defenseman Austin Mourar and senior forward Luke Aquaro. Senior defenseman Cooper Swift was tabbed second team and senior Shane Shell, junior Mavrick Goyer and sophomores Conor Lally and Bauer Morrissey were named to the third team.
 
It's the fourth year in a row that Taylor has been named the NEHC Coach of the Year. He guided the Statesmen to a 23-1-1 overall record and an 18-1-1 mark in NEHC play. Hobart captured its fourth consecutive regular season title and their sixth straight 20-win season. The 18 conference wins are a program record. The 2024-25 season marked Hobart's 22nd straight winning season. Taylor's charges enter the NEHC tournament ranked first in the nation in winning percentage (.940), scoring defense (1.00) and scoring margin (3.40). The Statesmen are second in the nation in penalty-killing percentage (.892) and third in scoring offense (4.40). This was Taylor's 10th conference coach of the year award.
 
Daniels has played in all 25 games this season. He leads the team with 15 goals, 19 assists and 34 points. Daniels is eighth in the nation with two short-handed goals, is 12th in points per game (1.36), 18th in goals per game (0.60) and 28th in assists per game (0.76). In 20 NEHC games, he has 28 points (13g, 15a). He has recorded 11 multi-point games and registered three points in a game five times this season.
 
Daniels has played in 82 career games, registering 74 points on 30 goals and 44 assists.
 
This is the third straight year a Statesman was named the NEHC Player of the Year. Aquaro won the award in 2023.
 
Beaver is the first Statesman to be named the NEHC Goaltender of the Year. He is 12-1-0 this season with a 1.00 GAA, a .955 save percentage and five shutouts. Beaver is first in the nation in save percentage and second in GAA and winning percentage (.923). He made a season-high 31 saves in the season opener against Oswego. Beaver has won the league's Goaltender of the Week award three times. He posted back-to-back shutouts to end the regular season.
 
The 2023 NEHC Rookie of the Year, Beaver moves up to the first team after earning second team honors last year. He is 48-4-1 on his career with a 1.01 GAA, a .958 save percentage and 19 shutouts. He currently holds the Hobart record for shutouts and is second in career wins.
 
Mourar has played in all 25 games this season. He has 20 points on nine goals and 11 assists. Mourar is eighth in the nation with six power-play goals. Entering the NEHC Tournament, he has recorded at least one point in seven of his last nine games.
 
Mourar moves up to the first team after earning All-NEHC second team recognition in 2023. He has played in 112 career games, recording 73 points on 31 goals and 42 assists. Mourar is tied for third on Hobart's career games played list.

A captain, Aquaro has played in all 25 games this season. He is second on the team with 14 goals and 30 points. His 16 assists are third. Aquaro has 24 points (10g, 14a) in 20 conference games. He had three points in a game three times.
 
Aquaro earns All-NEHC recognition for the fourth straight year. In addition to being named the Player of the Year in 2023, he was the Rookie of the Year in 2022.  Aquaro has played in 105 games, recording 68 goals, 62 assists and 130 points. He is fourth on Hobart's career goals list, fifth in points and seventh in assists.

Also a captain, Swift earns All-NEHC recognition for the first time. A defenseman, he has played in 23 games, recording 16 assists. Swift had two assists against UMass Boston and both games against Southern Maine.  He also has 15 blocked shots.
 
Swift has played all 96 games during his career. He has 55 points on four goals and 51 assists.

Shell earns All-NEHC recognition for the first time. He has played in all 25 games, recording six goals and 17 assists. Shell is second on the team in assists. He logged a season-high three points on a goal and two assists against Southern Maine.
 
Shell has played in 97 career games. He has 78 points on 19 goals and 59 assists. Shell is 12th on Hobart's career assist list.

Lally has played all 25 games on the blueline for Hobart. He has 14 points on two goals and 12 assists. Lally had a season-high two assists against Castleton and Skidmore. He has played in 53 career games, recording 33 points (6g, 27a).

Morrissey, the 2024 NEHC Rookie of the Year, has played in all 25 games on the blueline with Lally. He has 19 points on three goals and 16 assists. Morrissey was named the NEHC Player of the Week following a five-point performance against Elmira. He has played in 52 career games, recording 46 points on eight goals and 38 assists.

Goyer earns All-NEHC recognition for the second time. The other half of one of the best goalie tandems in the country. He is 11-0-1 overall with a 0.91 GAA, a .953 save percentage and six shutouts. Goyer is first in the nation in GAA and winning percentage and is second in save percentage.  In 34 career games, he is 29-1-1 with a .944 save percentage, a 1.06 GAA, and 14 shutouts. He is second on Hobart's career shutouts list.

Hobart will be back in action on Saturday, March 1, when it welcomes Albertus Magnus to The Cooler for an NEHC Quarterfinal contest. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
