The fifth-seeded William Smith hockey team hits the road this weekend for a New England Hockey Conference semifinal contest in Northfield, Vermont. The Herons will take on No. 1 seed Norwich at Kreitzberg Arena at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 1.
 
The Herons enter the weekend with an 11-13-1 overall record. The Herons beat No. 4 seed UMass Boston 4-1 in the quarterfinal round. The Beacons opened the scoring in the second period, but the Herons responded with four unanswered goals to secure the victory. Senior Erin Murray made 20 saves in the win
 
The Cadets are 18-7-0 overall and defeated the No. 8 seed Albertus Magnus 6-1 in the quarterfinals.

ABOUT THE HERONS

• This is the fourth straight year William Smith has advanced to the semifinals.
• William Smith is led by senior Kayla Ketchabaw with 10 assists and 15 points.

• Graduate student Mackenzie O'Neil has seven goals, seven assists and 14 points.
• NEHC Goaltender of the Year Erin Murray has played majority of minutes in goal for the Herons. She is 9-11-2 overall with a 1.34 GAA, a .948 save percentage and seven shutouts.

• Anna Lisac and Olivia Boyer share the team lead with 12 assists each.
