Herons secure No. 2 seed in AMCC Bowling Championship

GREENSBURG, Pa.—The William Smith bowling team secured the No. 2 seed in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship next month in Pittsburgh. The Herons went 6-1 this weekend in the AMCC Round Robin No. 2 to finish the AMCC regular season with an 11-3 record.

Senior Michaela Morgan led the Herons and finished third in the round robin with a total pinfall of 1,288 (184.0). She produced her best game of the weekend with a team-high 222 in the victory over Alvernia. Morgan also added a second 200-game in the win over Pitt-Bradford (203).
 
Junior Caitlyn Anschutz also finished in the top 10 for the weekend with a total pinfall of 1,196 (170.86), tying for seventh. Her 209 game against Saint Vincent coupled with sophomore Colleen Jump's 203 powered William Smith past the Bearcats.
 
ROUNDING OUT THE FIELD
Saint Vincent earned the top seed. The Bearcats went 6-1 this weekend and 13-1 in AMCC play overall. The six team championship field will also include Penn State Behrend (4-3, 9-5), Pitt-Bradford (4-3, 9-5), Pitt-Greensburg (4-3, 5-9) and Hilbert (3-4, 5-9).
 
UP NEXT
The Herons will be back in action Feb. 22-23 when they compete in the Niagara Invitational.
