Statesmen finish 3rd at Conroy Cup

The Hobart squash team wrapped up its 2024-25 season this weekend at the College Squash Association Divisional Team Championship. The Statesmen finished third in the Conroy Cup, posting a 2-1 record on the weekend.
 
With six teams in the Conroy Cup, the teams were broken into two three-team pods for pool play. Hobart went 1-1 to earn a spot in the third-place game against. The Statesmen took on Vassar in the third place game.
 
KEY STATS  
BARD MATCH
  • Hobart opened the tournament against Bard on Friday Night, posting a 9-0 win.
  • The Statesmen had six 3-0 sweeps in the match and won the other three points by default.
  • In the No. 1 spot, Clegg-Petri beat Artemy Mukhin, 11-7, 11-9, 11-5. It was Clegg-Petri's eighth win of the season.
  • Raskin Lantos cruised to an 11-3, 11-3, 11-2 victory in the No. 2 spot.
  • Vega knocked off Jacob Nathan, 11-0, 11-3, 11-1, losing only four points.
  • Aldana also lost only four points in his match at No. 5.
  • De La Vega bested Jonas Erasmus won 11-4, 1—2, 11-4 in the No. 4 spot.
  • Senior Tytus Felbor rolled past Yashar Khan, 11-1, 11-1, 11-1 in the No. 6 spot.
 
DENISON MATCH
  • On Saturday at noon, Hobart took on Denison to decide the group winner. The Big Red emerged victorious, posting a 6-3 win.
  • Denison had five 3-0 sweeps and one 3-1 victory to earn six points.
  • Raskin Lantos extended his winning streak to four matches, beating Tarun Mammen, 11-3, 11-8, 9-11, 11-9.
  • Vega bested Lucas Piller, 11-6, 11-6, 11-5, in the No. 3 spot.
  • At No. 5, Aldana topped Ross Falcon, 11-9, 9-11, 11-5, 11-6.
VASSAR MATCH
  • Hobart beat the Brewers 6-3 on Saturday afternoon.
  • The Statesmen had four sweeps and won two matches 3-1.
  • Clegg-Petri swept Konstantinos Georgallides, 11-1, 11-7, 11-5, in the No. 1 spot.  He concludes his rookie campaign with a 9-8 overall record.
  • At No. 2 Raskin Lantos defeated Jarid Haslinger, 11-7, 11-5, 11-9. He concludes the season with a 13-5 overall record.
  • Vega swept Kyle Benson, 11-3, 11-4, 11-8. It was his seventh victory of the season.
  • Aldana beat Razaan Lalji, 11-6, 11-8, 7-11, 11-3.
  • In the closest match of the day, John Solano beat Daniel Smith, 7-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-7. In the No. nine spot.
 
SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
  • Raskin Lantos concludes his career with a 44-25 record in singles matches. He won the final five matches of his career.
  • Vega had 35 career wins.
