Hobart and William Smith is 39th out of 425 NCAA Division III institutions in the LEARFIELD Director's Cup winter standings that were released last week. After Hobart Hockey's third consecutive national championship and Hobart diving's strong postseason run, HWS earned 111 points in the standings, bringing the year's total to 276 points.

"We are excited to be recognized among the best programs in all of Division III with our Learfield Cup rankings following the winter sport seasons," said Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics and Recreation Brian Miller. "It was a departmental goal of ours to crack the top 40 this year, and thanks to the unbelievable run from Hobart Hockey, culminating with a third straight national championship, combined with William Smith soccer's outstanding season in the fall, we are well positioned to reach that milestone."

Hobart hockey earned 100 points after winning the 2025 Division III Men's Ice Hockey National Championship. The Statesmen went 29-1-1, claiming its fourth NEHC title along the way. Kahlil Fontana's overtime tally secured the 2-1 victory for Hobart over Utica in the national championship game.  

Hobart swimming and diving added 11 points as junior diver Daniel Barrientos punched his ticket to the 2025 Division III Swimming and Diving National Championships last month. Barrientos was named a second team All-American after finishing 15th on the 3-meter board with a score of 558.35.  

Among Liberty League schools, HWS' 276 points are third behind Ithaca (365) and RPI (281.75).

The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
 
Johns Hopkins leads the standings with 865 points. NYU is second with 727 points.
