#25 Statesmen conclude homestand against RIT

Statesmen ranked for first time since 2015

The Hobart soccer team will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 24, when it concludes a three-game homestand against Rochester Institute of Technology on Cozzens Field. The Liberty League contest is scheduled to get underway at 4 p.m.
 
The Statesmen, who were ranked 25th in today's United Soccer Coaches Poll, enter Wednesday's game with a 6-0-1 record. This is the first time since 2015 that Hobart has been nationally ranked. The Statesmen are 1-0-0 in Liberty League play after defeating St. Lawrence 4-0 last Saturday. Sophomore Griffin Coutts recorded a hat trick in the win.
 
The Tigers enter the match with a 4-2-0 overall record and a 0-1-0 mark in Liberty League play. RIT is coming off a 2-0 win against Alfred State last Saturday.

ABOUT THE STATESMEN
  • Sophomore Brady Leitner leads the team with six goals and 12 points,
  • Coutts is right behind him with four goals, two assists, and 10 points.
  • Junior Joe Pariano leads the team with three assists, two of which came in the league opener against the Saints.
  • Senior Tommy Chyzowych has played the majority of the minutes in goal this season. He is 5-0-1 with a 0.50 GAA, an .813 save percentage and three shutouts.

  • Entering the week, Hobart is fifth in the nation in corner kicks per game (8.29), seventh in winning percentage (.929) and 19th in GAA (0.429).
  • Leitner is fifth in the nation in game-winning goals with three.
 
ABOUT THE TIGERS
  • Idriss Diallo leads the team with seven points on two goals and three assists. He is one of three Tigers who have two goals.
  • Selorm Dake is second on the team with six points on two goals and two assists.
  • Kristian Dobbek has played the majority of the minutes in goal for the Tigers. He has a 0.40 GAA and an .846 save percentage.
 
SEREIS HISTORY
  • This will be the 58th meeting between Hobart and RIT.
  • The Statesmen lead the all-time series 29-22-6, including a 15-10-3 mark in Geneva.
  • The Tigers won both meetings last year, recording a 1-0 win on Cozzens Field in the Liberty League Tournament.
