The William Smith ice hockey team will be back in action this weekend, Jan. 16-17, when it takes on Route 14 rival Elmira in a home-and-home series. The teams will be at The Cooler on Friday at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Herons will make the 49-mile trip down Route 14 to the Murray Athletic Center for a 6 p.m. faceoff.

William Smith is 7-6-0 this season and is looking to snap a three-game skid.

Elmira, which is receiving votes in this week's USCHO.com poll, is 7-3-1. The Soaring Eagles are coming off a loss to Norwich on Jan. 5. Â
