BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Hobart swimming and diving team traveled to Brockport, New York, to take on SUNY Brockport in a dual meet on Saturday. Despite strong performances from the Statesmen, the Golden Eagles secured a 226-48 win over Hobart in the non-conference meet.
Senior
Randall Dominguez led the Statesmen with a win in the 50-yard freestyle event. Dominguez touched the wall at 24.12 to secure first place and earn crucial points for Hobart.
Sophomore
Gerard Humiston also impressed for Hobart and collected second place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.25 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.52. First-year
Sebastian Iancu followed in fifth place with a time of 1:16.30. Humiston also swam to a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke after touching the wall at 1:11.85.
In the 100-yard butterfly, first-year
Joseph Thompson touched the wall at 1:02.17 to claim third place. Sophomore
Payton Owens swam to a fourth-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 12:23.09. He added a fourth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:41.55 and a fifth-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 30.98. First-year
Caleb Halpine finished right before Owens in fourth place with a time of 30.54.
In the 50-yard breaststroke, Iancu swam to a fourth-place finish after stopping the clock at 35.01, while junior
Holton Frank claimed fifth place with a time of 35.12.
From the diving boards, senior
Daniel Barrientos placed second on the 3-meter diving board with a score of 284.40.

Hobart will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 31, when it hosts RIT for a dual meet in Bristol Pool. Action between the Statesmen and the Tigers is set for 1 p.m.
