SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—William Smith junior
Amelia McCulley scored a game-high 20 points, but a slow start proved to be too much to overcome as the Herons suffered a 62-39 loss at Skidmore this afternoon.
McCulley matched her season-high making 6-of-12 shots from the floor, including a pair of 3-pointers. She was also perfect at the free throw line, making all six of her attempts. Sophomore

Bridget McCleary shared team-high honors with three steals apiece.
Madison Meyer led a balanced offense for the Thoroughbreds, posting 11 points and a game-high four steals. Sara Hastie added nine points and Ruby Krop posted eight points, a game-high 11 rebounds and eight blocked shots.
Skidmore scored the first six points of the game and never trailed on the way to a 12-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Thoroughbreds blocked four shots in the first 10 minutes, including three by Krop. Skidmore kept up the defensive pressure in the second quarter, and carried a 31-8 lead into halftime. Krop blocked four more shots in the second quarter.
Hastie led all scorers with seven points going into halftime, while McCulley led the Herons with six.
William Smith played Skidmore even in the second half. Both teams scored 15 points in the third quarter and 16 points in the fourth quarter.
The Herons will continue their four-game road trip on Friday, Feb. 6, when they RPI for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
