GENEVA, N.Y. – The William Smith swimming and diving team put together several impressive performances as it took on RIT in a dual meet to celebrate its Senior Day in Bristol Pool this afternoon. Despite the strong showing, the Herons fell 137-118 to the Tigers.
Sophomore
Kaleigh Boynton had an impressive afternoon for the Herons, securing wins in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.91) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:43.86) events. In the 100-yard breaststroke, first-year
Lark Sallade added a third-place finish (1:15.04), while sophomore
Jenna Flihan swam to a fourth-place finish (1:16.96).
Junior
Mackenzie Morus also had a big day for William Smith as she secured a win in the 200-yard butterfly (2:22.17) and swam to a second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:41.21) and the 100-yard Individual Medley (1:07.64). In the 200-yard butterfly, senior
Hali Seidberg added a second-place finish with a time of 2:30.27, while sophomore
Aurora Donta-Venman added a third-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:44.76.
In the 100-yard backstroke event, sophomore
Boglarka Olah swam to a second-place finish with a time of 1:06.94. She was followed by first-year
Sofia Ciereck in third with a time of 1:08.92 and senior
Lea Doufekias Emanuel in fourth with a time of 1:09.52. Olah also secured second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:26.20) and was followed by Doufekias Emanuel in third (2:27.66).
Sophomore
Amalia Olivieri secured crucial points for the Herons with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:13.52) and a third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (27.06). Senior
Marguerite Woodruff added a third-place finish in the 200-yard free with a time of 2:15.34 and was followed by junior
Emma Haher in fourth with a time of 2:19.63.
Senior
Hali Seidberg touched the wall at 1:06.18 in the 100-yard butterfly to secure second place, while first-year
Keelyn Brink followed closely behind in third with a time of 1:06.81. Brink also added a third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.64) and was followed by Haher in fourth (1:03.04).
In the 500-yard freestyle, Donta-Venman led William Smith with a second-place finish after touching the wall at 5:45.43. She was followed by Woodruff in third after stopping the clock at 6:07.04.
From the diving boards, sophomore
Fiona Garfield led the Herons with a second-place finish from the 3-meter board after earning a score of 239.60. She added a third-place finish from the 1-meter board after securing a score of 219.95. Senior
Haley Levine chipped in fourth place finishes from both the 3-meter board (172.80) and the 1-meter board (172.25).
