#13 Hobart welcomes Clarkson, #22 Cortland for Homecoming Weekend

The 13th-ranked Hobart soccer team will be back in action for a pair of games this weekend, Oct. 3-4, when they welcome Clarkson and Cortland to Cozzens Field. The Statesmen will open the weekend Saturday against the Golden Knights and then take on the Red Dragons on Sunday. Both games are set to begin at 2 p.m.
 
The games are part of the 2026 HWS Homecoming and Family Weekend Schedule. On Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until the end of halftime, there will be a Chili Pop-up Tailgate at Cozzens Field offering chili-to-go, walking tacos, cookies and drinks (debit and credit cards only).  
 
Hobart enters the weekend with an 8-1-0 record and a 2-1-0 mark in league play after a 2-1 win over Bard last Saturday. Junior Brady Leitner led the Statesmen with two goals. Senior Quinn Phillips assisted on both goals.
 
Clarkson is 4-3-2 to start the year, with a 0-2-1 record in league play. The Golden Knights are looking to bounce back from a 3-1 loss to St. Lawrence on Wednesday.
 
Cortland, which is ranked 22nd in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, is 6-1-1. The Red Dragons opened SUNYAC play on Wednesday with a 3-1 win over Buffalo State.

ABOUT THE STATESMEN
  • Leitner leads Hobart with 12 points on six goals. He moved into second in the Liberty League in goals after scoring a combined four against RIT and Bard.
  • Junior Griffin Coutts is right behind Leitner with 11 points on a goal and nine assists. Entering the weekend, Coutts is first in the nation in assists per game (1.13) and fourth in total assists.
  • Junior goalkeeper Jake Hans has played the bulk of the minutes for the Statesmen. He is 7-1-0 with a 0.88 GAA and an .816 save percentage.

  • Bodie Smith leads Clarkson with 13 points on six goals and an assist.
  • Three players share the team lead with two assists each.
  • Ian Burgos has played every minute in goal, posting a 4-3-2 record with a 1.33 GAA and a .647 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Saturday's game will be the 73rd match between Hobart and Clarkson.
  • Clarkson holds a 35-29-8 edge in the series, but Hobart is 17-12-6 in Geneva.
  • Last year, the Statesmen won 1-0 in Potsdam. Danny Spataro had Hobart's goal.
 
ABOUT THE RED DRAGONS
  • Diego Rivera leads Cortland with 12 points on six goals and two assists.
  • Owen Brant is right behind him with 10 points on three goals and a team-high four assists.
  • Jordan Ott has played every minute in goal, posting a 6-1-1 record with a 0.38 GAA and a .900 save percentage. 
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Sunday's game will be the 25th match between Hobart and Cortland.
  • The Red Dragons lead the all-time series 16-6-2, including a 7-4-1 mark in Geneva.
  • This will be the first meeting between Cortland and Hobart since 2022. The Red Dragons won that game 3-0 on Cozzens Field.
