For the third straight week, the William Smith rowing team was recognized by the Liberty League with its Boat of the Week Award. The Herons' varsity eight was honored for its performance in their home regatta on Saturday.
 
Rowing on the Cayuga-Seneca Canal, senior Lizzy Whitney, senior Leah Wiebe, sophomore Eden Grim, senior Cheyenne Muldowney, senior Alayna Wian, sophomore Paige Barnhart, sophomore Danielle Eaton, senior Ollie Sainsbury and senior Meghan Bartholomay finished first in the women's varsity eight race at the HWS Challenge on the Canal. They stopped the clock with a time of 16:46, nearly a minute ahead of runner-up RIT. The eight-boat field also included crews from Hamilton and Mercyhurst.
 
Whitney, Wiebe, Grim, Muldowney and Bartholomay have been a part of all three boats of the week. Wian, Sainsbury and Eaton have won the award twice.
 
Saturday's racing was the fall finale for the Herons. William Smith will be back on the water in March when it begins its spring season at the Cayuga Duals.
