GENEVA, N.Y.—Three Herons dropped double-digit points as the William Smith basketball team dropped a Liberty League matchup to St. Lawrence 68-47 this afternoon in Bristol Gym.
Junior guard
Ava Lobozzo led the Herons with 12 points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal in the loss. Classmate
Giana Lobozzo recorded her second double-double of the season as she dropped 10 points and added 12 boards.
Giana Lobozzo chipped in one assist, one block and one steal for William Smith. Sophomore
Jojo Sulmasy added 10 points, five rebounds, one assist and one block in the setback.
St. Lawrence was led Norah Niesz's game-high 19 points, two steals and one assist. Elizabeth Flynn chipped in 10 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Stevie Bannon added nine points and 10 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- St. Lawrence came out strong and jumped out to a 10-0 scoring run to open the game and never looked back. The Saints shot 47% from the floor and held the Herons to 21% shooting and forced William Smith to four early turnovers to grab the early 19-11 lead.
- The Saints continued on their momentum into the second quarter, outscoring the Herons 21-5 in the second 10-minute period. St. Lawrence shot 56% from the floor, finding crucial points in the paint, and held William Smith to 13% as it closed out the first half with a 40-16 lead.
- William Smith responded well in the second half, locking down defensively and holding St. Lawrence to just 19% from the floor. The Herons went for 15 points, shooting 29% from the floor and was led by Ava Lobozzo and sophomore Bridget McCleary as William Smith looked to spark a late comeback.
- The Herons continued to chip away at the Saints lead in the final quarter, outscoring St. Lawrence 16-9 in the final 10 minutes. William Smith shot 35% from the floor and dominated the boards to keep them in the game. Although the Herons took the late momentum of the game, the Saints used the clock to their advantage and closed out the conference matchup on top, 68-47.
