The Hobart Alpine skiing team added two wins over the weekend as it competed in week five of USCSA action on Labrador Mountain. The Statesmen finished first out of 14 teams in both the giant slalom and slalom to hold their first-place spot in the Mideast Conference standings.

In Saturday's giant slalom, which included 71 racers, Hobart produced six top 20 finishers to secure first place. Sophomore
Will Patton finished with a combined race time of 1:28.12 to secure a second-place finish for the Statesmen. Junior
Ethan Hine followed in fourth place, stopping the clock at 1:30.34, while first-year
Zachary Wargo followed close behind with a time of 1:30.74 for a fifth-place finish. First-year
Ben Bush secured a 10th-place finish after crossing the line at 1:32.23. Senior
Rex Eidlin added a 15th-place finish with a time of 1:32.98, and fellow classmate
Luke Ward rounded out Hobart's top 20 finishers with a 19th-place finish and a time of 1:33.75.

In Sunday's slalom, four Statesmen finished in the top 15 to help claim first place in the team standings. Wargo finished second with a combined race time of 1:29.99 for his fourth top 5 slalom finish of the season. Ward added a sixth-place finish after stopping the clock at 1:32.12, and Eidlin followed close behind, crossing the line at 1:33.08 for an eighth-place finish. Senior
Jack Meagher rounded out the top four finishers for Hobart with a time of 1:34.58, securing 12th place.

Hobart will be back in action next weekend for the USCSA Mideast Regional Championships. The Statesmen will race the giant slalom event on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 9 a.m. and the slalom on Sunday at 9 a.m. on Bristol Mountain.
