Statesmen send seniors out on win streak, topping Bard 75-58 in season finale

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart sent its seniors out on a three-game winning streak, delivering a 75-58 Liberty League win over Bard in Bristol Gym this afternoon. All four members of the Class of 2026—Gabriel Bergeron, Niko Lutz, Axel Traina and Jaymon Pysnack—scored in the game.
 
Lutz posted a team and career-high 14 points, making 6-of-7 from the floor. He also added five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Bergeron recorded eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Traina connected from deep for three points and Pysnack brought the home crowd to its feet with a 3-pointer at the buzzer, giving him four points for the game.
 
The Statesmen also got double digit contributions from junior Alex Moesch (13 points), sophomore Allen Mordi (12) and Dorian Paki (10). Sophomore Justin Price quarterbacked the offense with a career-high seven assists to go with five rebounds.
 
For the Raptors, Angelos Bratakos netted a game-high 29 points, shooting 10-of-18 from the field with seven 3-pointers, while also grabbing six steals. Azikiwe Cuffy-Scott scored 10 points and pulled down a game-high seven rebounds. Lucas Tovar contributed nine assists, six rebounds, and five points.
 
GAME RECAP
First Half: Hobart 38, Bard 33
  • Lutz connected on a turnaround jumper with under six minutes left in the opening half that gave the Statesmen a seven-point lead.
  • Bard responded with eight straight points, including a 3-pointer by Dimitrios Zampoukas, to take the lead 29-28.
  • Hobart countered with a 10-1 run that included four points from first-year Elvis Lloyd to take the biggest lead of the first half, 38-30.
  • At the break, the Statesmen led the Raptors 38-33. 
 
Second Half: Hobart 75-58
  • Bard started the half on a 10-4 run that saw them take their final lead of the game, 43-42, on a trey by Bratakos.
  • Hobart broke the game open with a 14-3 scoring run in a five-minute span that gave the Statesmen a 56-46 lead midway through the half. Paki and Mordi split the scoring work, contributing seven points apiece.
  • Hobart led by at least two possessions for the rest of the contest.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Moesch was 3-of-8 from beyond the 3-point arc today. He has made at least one 3-pointer in 30 consecutive games.
  • Moesch increased his career points total to 985.
  • Hobart ended the season with a 14-11 overall record. The Statesmen were 8-10 in Liberty League play, finishing a game out of a playoff spot.
