GENEVA, N.Y.—The top-ranked Hobart hockey team knocked off Fredonia 3-0 in a SUNYAC quarterfinal contest at The Cooler this evening. Senior Goalie
Mavrick Goyer played all 60 minutes in goal and earned his fifth straight shutout.
Eight different Statesmen recorded a point in the victory. Sophomore
Nick Dimatos and juniors
Bauer Morrissey and
Chris Duclair scored the goals for the Statesmen. With tonight's 19-save performance, Goyer became the first Statesman to record five consecutive shutouts.
Charles-Anthony Barbeau played all 60 minutes in goal for the Blue Devils. He made 55 saves.
STREAKING
- Hobart won its collegiate hockey record 66th consecutive home game.
- The Statesmen also extended their overall winning streak to a program record 32 games and their unbeaten streak to 39 games.
- Goyer has not allowed a goal in 306:27 minutes and allowed just one goal in his last six starts. The five consecutive shutouts are the second-longest streak in NCAA Division III history.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Hobart (26-0-0) finished the game with a 58-19 advantage in shots on goal.
- The Statesmen were 1-for-3 on the power play and Fredonia (4-21-1) was 0-for-3 with the man advantage.
MATCH MOMENTS
- Hobart opened the scoring at the 13:07 mark of the first period. Morrissey collected a rebound at the top of the left faceoff circle and ripped a shot past Barbeau for his sixth goal of the season. Seniors Tanner Daniels and Kahlil Fontana had assists on the goal.
- Fredonia's best chance of the game came at the 16-minute mark of the first period. Owen Arnold ripped a shot off the left goal post that also hit the crossbar before bouncing harmlessly to the corner.
- Neither team found the back of the net in the second period.
- Senior Ignat Belov snapped a shot off the left goal post two minutes into the third period.
- Duclair gave Hobart a 2-0 lead just over eight minutes into the final frame. He collected a pass from Conor Lally and fired a wrist shot from the slot past the Fredonia goalie. It was Duclair's 12th goal of the year.
- Dimatos rounded out the scoring with just over four minutes remaining in regulation. He snapped a shot from the right faceoff circle off the goal post and into the net. Sophomores Adam Mendelson and Easton Ryan had assists on the power-play goal.
CLIMBING THE LADDER
- With today's shutout, Goyer now has 21 for his career, which is third on the NCAA Division III career list.
- Hobart's 12 shutouts this season are tied for the second most in a single-season in program history.
- Daniels played in his 114th career game today, moving him into a tie for second in program history with Zach Sternbach '20 and Jonas Toupal '19

Hobart will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 28, when it welcomes Cortland to The Cooler for a SUNYAC semifinal. Faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
