LANCASTER, Pa.—The Hobart baseball team powered its way to a commanding 16-5 victory over Franklin & Marshall on Sunday at Penn Medicine Park. A seven-run fourth inning fueled the win, with the Statesmen racking up nine two-out RBIs and a season-best four stolen bases in the game.

Jackson Rucker each recorded two hits, while Jones and Garvin both drove home four runs apiece. First-year
Jack O'Neil was 1-for-3, walked twice, and stole three bases. Seniors
Cole Tarrant and
Aaron Forgues combined to strike out 10 Diplomats. Tarrant struck out six in five innings, earning the win, while Forgues whiffed four over the final two innings.
The Statesmen (6-1) grabbed the lead in the top of the first inning. First-year
Jack O'Neil scored the opening run after reaching base on a walk, stealing second and taking third on a wild pitch. Jones' first hit, a single, gave Hobart a 1-0 lead.
Franklin & Marshall (3-2) briefly took the lead in the third inning with three runs, courtesy of Michael von Zuben's RBI single, a bases loaded walk, and a Gideon Schwartz sacrifice fly.
Hobart's bats came alive in the fourth inning with a seven-run explosion. Rucker sparked the rally with an RBI single.
Jack Byrnes added a sacrifice fly, while
Sean Garvin and junior
Connor O'Neil each drove in two runs, pushing the Statesmen to an 8-3 lead.
In the fifth inning, Hobart continued to press, adding four more runs. Garvin singled in one and Jones delivered a three-run double, widening the gap to 12-3. F&M got two back in the bottom of the inning to make it 12-5.
The Statesmen capitalized on a pair of Franklin & Marshall miscues in the sixth inning, scoring three more runs. Sophomore
Jack Farnen's pinch-hit single drove in two, and Garvin's sacrifice fly tacked on another, extending the lead to 15-5.
Hobart sealed the win in the seventh with a run scored by
Payton Johnson on a wild pitch, finalizing the 16-5 victory.
GAME NOTES
- Garvin extended his hitting streak to 10 games and has reached base safely in 15 straight games.
- Senior Christian Petry stretched his streak of reaching base safely to 18 games.
- Jack O'Neil is the second Statesman in as many games to steal three bases. Senior Isaiah Pinto accomplished the feat in yesterday's 12-0 win over the Diplomats.
