GENEVA, N.Y.—The top-ranked Hobart hockey team scored twice in the second period and held on as they defeated second-ranked St. Norbert 2-1 in an NCAA quarterfinal game at The Cooler this evening. With the win, the Statesmen advance to the national semifinals for the fourth straight year.
Hobart is making its seventh trip to the semifinals. The three-time defending national champions also advanced to the final four in 2006, 2009, 2019, 2023, 2024 and 2025. The Statesmen will take on the University of Wisconsin Stout on Friday, March 27, in Utica, New York.

Tanner Daniels factored into both goals for the Statesmen, finishing the game with a goal and an assist. Junior

Damon Beaver played all 60 minutes in goal and stopped 22 shots as he picked up his program-record 19th win of the season.
Braydon Beahm scored the goal for the Green Knights. Hunter Garvey played all 60 minutes in goal and made 28 saves.
STREAKING
- With tonight's victory, Hobart won its collegiate hockey record 69th straight game at home. The Class of 2026 won all 68 games that it played at The Cooler during their careers.
- The Statesmen extended their overall win streak to 35 games and their unbeaten streak to an NCAA record 42 games.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Hobart finished the game with a 30-23 advantage in shots on goal.
- The Statesmen were 0-for-1 on the power play and held the Green Knights scoreless on their three attempts, including the final 61 seconds in regulation as St. Norbert pushed for the equalizer.
MATCH MOMENTS
- Hobart finished the first period with a 7-5 edge in shots on goal.
- Most of the first period was a back-and -forth affair. Daniels had the best chance of the frame in the closing seconds. He collected a pass in the slot and nearly slipped a backhanded shot across the goal line, but Garvey swiped the shot off the goal line at the last second.
- Daniels did open the scoring just under two minutes into the second period. He collected a breakout pass from sophomore Calum Chau, broke into the offensive zone all alone, and ripped a shot over Garvey into the upper half of the cage. It was his 16th goal of the season.
- Lally gave the Statesmen a two-goal lead at the 8:35 mark of the second period. After playing give-and-go with fellow junior Bauer Morrissey at the point, Lally ripped a shot from the point past Garvey for his 13th goal of the season. Daniels picked up the secondary assist after digging the puck out of the scrum below the goal line.
- St. Norbert flipped the momentum late in the period, but Hobart got a pair of key saves from Beaver in the final 30 seconds of the stanza. Easton Ryan got a key blocked shot in the frame.
- Hobart piled up the pressure in the third period, but Garvey was up to the task. He made a couple of key saves on shots from Easton Ryan and Adam Mendelson three minutes into the frame.
- At the 6:04 mark of the third period, sophomore Nick Dimatos cleanly beat Garvey, but the shot hit the post. Sophomore Tamas Toth jumped on the rebound, but his shot was turned aside by Garvey.
- The Green Knights broke up the shutout bid with just over four minutes remaining in regulation. Beahm one-timed a shot from the left faceoff circle past Beaver for his 17th goal of the season. Calvin Hanson and Ethan Byrne were awarded assists on the goal.
- St. Norbert pulled Garvey for the extra attacker with 1:04 left in regulation. After a Hobart penalty, they kept the net empty to have a two-player advantage. Beaver came up huge during the sequence, making three big saves. Sophomore Arvega Hovsepyan also had a blocked shot during the sequence. In the final five seconds Jack Christen and Braydon Beahm both cleanly beat Beaver, but the shots went harmlessly through the crease.
CLIMBING THE LADDER
- With today's win, Beaver now has 72 for his career, moving him into a tie for fifth on the NCAA Division III all-time list.
- His 19th win this season broke his own Hobart single-season record.
- Hobart's 29 wins this season match the program's single-season record. The Statesmen also won 29 games in 2022-23 and 2024-25.
