KP OPEN TEAM RACE
  • In Kings Point, New York, sailors completed 29 races on Saturday in a breeze that varied between moderate strength and white capping out of the northwest and then dropped off significantly, at which point the call was made to end things for the day. On Sunday, sailors faced similar conditions, but the breeze died out much sooner, and racing was called after only 10 races in the second round.
  • HWS went 5-4 on the weekend, finishing fifth in the standings.
  • HWS logged wins over #16 Bowdoin, Christopher Newport, Cornell, Jacksonville, and Kings Point.
  • Senior Juan Carlos LaCerda Jones, junior JJ Klempen and sophomore James Kopack competed as skippers for HWS and first-year Jamie McGuffee, senior Elijah Goldman, junior Stella Kim, senior Cooper Delbridge and senior Laura Therien sailed as crew.
  • Tufts won the regatta with a perfect 9-0 record.

BLAIRE HERRON MEMORIAL WOMEN'S TEAM RACE
  • At the Washington Sailing Marina, sailors completed 13 races on Saturday in a breeze ranging from 5-8 mph out of the north-northwest. After a postponement, racing was called for the day at 4 p.m. when the wind showed no signs of picking up. On Sunday, the winds ranged from 7-10 mph out of the south-southeast, and the first round robin was completed in the lagoon, followed by the top 4 and bottom 4, which were sailed in the river.
  • William Smith went 4-6 on the weekend, finishing sixth in the standings.
  • In the first Round Robin, the Herons logged wins over Navy and St. Mary's to earn a spot in the Silver 4 Round Robin.
  • In Sunday's Silver 4 Round Robin, HWS was 2-1, logging wins over the Seahawks and the Midshipmen.
  • Sophomore Deana Fedulova, sophomore Sabrina Starck, first-year Moira Padilla, and sophomore Lauren Campbell competed as skippers for HWS, and sophomore Olivia Wilkins, junior Cara Brickhouse, and junior Reilly Roedel sailed as crew.
