GOWANDA, N.Y.—The Hobart baseball team shattered several records, including the program mark for runs in a game, in a 25-0 win over SUNY Fredonia this afternoon. The offensive explosion included 16 hits, seven doubles, a home run, 15 walks, and 10 hit-by-pitch.
Hobart's pitching staff matched its season-high with 11 strikeouts, while posting its third shutout of the season. Nine different Statesmen toed the rubber today, each one hurling one inning.
"It was great to see us take care of business after we had the bus break down and had to rush to get ready to play," Hobart Head Coach
Brad Cook said. "Anytime you can get everyone in the game and you staff it for a shutout, It's a great day. I'm proud of these guys."

Hobart produced all the offense it would need in the first inning. Jones singled with the bases loaded to bring home the first run and then Davenport brought home another run on a groundout.
The Statesmen established full control with a three-run third and a six-run fourth inning. The third inning was highlighted by first-year
Payton Johnson's two-run double. In the fourth, Jones and Davenport each contributed RBI doubles, as Hobart extended its lead to 11-0.
Hobart sent 17 batters to the plate in the 14-run eighth inning. The highlight of the onslaught was Fowle's grand slam that finished off the day's scoring.
GAME NOTES
- Hobart's seven doubles are the most by the Statesmen since returning to varsity status in 2023.
- The Statesmen's 15 walks are the most since returning to varsity status.
- Hobart batters were hit by a pitch 10 times, also the most since returning to varsity status.
Hobart improved to 20-7 overall. It's the program's first 20-win season since posting a program record 27 wins in 1994. Fredonia drops to 5-15.
Looking ahead, Hobart will take on Elmira College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on Saturday, April 11 at 2:30 p.m. followed by a 6 p.m. showdown with Wilkes.
